When we were hired as the interior design team for Sonora, a new inner-city development, we couldn’t pass on an opportunity where inclusive design was understood and valued. Opening in Austin, TX, Sonora is a new multi-unit residential project, as featured in Austin Business Journal and is the perfect of example of a collaboration that benefits the buyer.

Developers haven’t always leaned on interior designers, as they primarily relied on architects to carry out the entire design. However, as the demand for high-end luxury design has increased, more and more developers have found themselves moving away from a linear design process and hiring experts that overlap skills to ensure a design that suits the lifestyle and desires of the homeowner and community. While interior designers primarily focus on the interior look and feel of a space, we have found that collaborating with architects allows us to complement each other’s expertise which ultimately creates cohesive and fine-tuned spaces. Prime Haven Homes, developers of Sonora, had a vision to build a successful team ensuring nothing was overlooked in the design process.
A large portion of our day-to-day work focuses on designs for custom single homes, but we switched gears for this multi-unit development making sure that our varied color schemes appealed to a wider range of buyers. We took an active role in selecting finishes, decorative lighting, textiles and accents that stand out and set the bar for multi-unit developments in the vibrant city of Austin. As experts in cabinetry, we also had to ability to focus on cabinetry layouts ensuring functionality. This project is expected to break ground early 2024 but with the assistance from CDGM marketing, realistic renderings were created to display our luxury designs for potential homebuyers to view.

Photos below represent two of the primary bathroom’s color schemes. Featured materials such as porcelain tile with crisp symmetry, Terrazzo flooring, linear beige cabinetry, and quartz countertops are a few of the fun selections seen in these photos!
