More than ever, it’s important to show gratitude in the little things while trying to embrace this change. With all the changes and uncertainty, I am extremely grateful for my clients and the opportunity to continue projects we started at the beginning of this year. I have welcomed new projects over the last couple weeks which I will begin working on from my home. Many of our manufacturers and vendors have continued to support us to keep business moving as smoothly as possible. This pause in our daily routine has allowed for more rest, quiet time and creative thinking which has brought me joy and light. I found myself cleaning and completing way overdue checklists! It was important that the setting for my home office felt refreshed and organized so I could feel productive while in that space. I brought in more greenery and fun colorful office supplies. I also cleaned out old cabinetry samples and rearranged files. Because I love coffee while I am working and designing, I ordered cold brew coffee from one of my favorite local companies (Revival Coffee – yes they delivered, and it was awesome!) in my commitment to stay home.

Our showroom, along with many other offices in our community, has been temporarily closed in an effort to maintain social distancing. This adjustment from office to home has forced me to be creative in the way I navigate my projects. Instead of showing clients samples in our showroom, samples are being sent directly to the clients home. Storyboards are changing to a digital presentation and in-person meetings have switched to Zoom video calls. I have found myself connecting through video with friends and family members whom I haven’t spoken with in a while. This distant face time instantly uplifts my spirits and leads to productivity! If you haven’t tried this yet with clients or loved ones, it’s a great time to try it out! I encourage you to look to the future and try to confront this health crisis with positivity and gratitude.
A great start is with a positive note written daily to yourself!
