Since the beginning of the new year, I have been diving into exciting new projects! Right now, I am finding inspiration in natural wood: the slightly raw organic feel that natural wood brings. While I am a huge fan of painted wood, I also love and appreciate stained wood such as natural quarter sawn oak. The organic element creates a traditional feeling. There is a feeling of timelessness and purity that is created by these untouched materials. And if you’re loving the natural stained look just as much as I am, focus on contrasting the space with eye-catching accents, colorful materials or bold details.

I am also inspired by this seasons colors. Blues and greens are taking over and I am loving it! They pair perfectly with natural elements and add a sense of calmness to a space. These deep, rich tones are perfect options for painted cabinetry. You can’t go wrong with painted cabinetry but the color selection is key. I always recommend exploring your personality when choosing color. If you love a bold colorful look, then go for it! The paint selection for cabinetry is endless. Some cabinetry lines will also do custom color matches to your favorite Sherwin Williams Paint color! A few of my favorite Sherwin Williams colors right now: Cape Verde, and Agreeable Gray.

If you’re contemplating stained wood vs. painted wood there are solutions for you! For example, if you have been inspired by colored cabinetry, it is easy to pair light wood flooring, raw wood shelves or some vintage wooden barstools to balance the space. Scroll down to see a sneak preview of one of my favorite looks featuring a mix of natural wood and painted cabinetry. This is a project we recently completed (stay tuned for more pics and information on this home!). Details in the finishing touches made this space stunning! Notice the beautifully painted cabinetry mixed with purple bar stools, brass fixtures, light wood shelving with brass supports and gorgeously selected wallpaper. This space has a vintage feel with a modern twist and loads of character! I can’t wait to share more about this home!
